Since our first release 'Limitless Love' in January 2015, Rezonairs have been busy filming a Live Performance Video - and here's the result!
The video took 1 day to film, it was shot in London at Frank's flat and what we wanted to achieve with it was a natural, simple performance, no really fancy distractions that detract from the music itself, just the band playing live and giving you a glimpse of our live abilities.
For those of you out there that are interested to know how we achieved this 'Studio quality' sound recording, this is how we produced it.
Firstly, we practiced the track so we could achieve a good quality performance. Next, Frank took the studio track and muted out the Lead Vocals and Synths. In the room, we set up the Synth and Mic, running into a mixing desk, and behind the camera we had a laptop to play the back-track.
With a live mic in the room capturing audio, we had to turn the speakers off, and channel the backing track + vocals & Synths to headphones, so you'll notice the black wire between Natasha & Frank. We had the full mix in our headphones, but the only sound in the room was Natasha's vocals!
Levels, levels, levels - are SO important. We did several test recordings, because you can only really hear the end result when you listen back on headphones. We adjusted the levels, added a bit of reverb to Natasha's mic, compression on the vocals as well as the Synth. I used a Yamaha MG12FX mixer which has built-in compressors on 4 channels (v handy).
We added around 8 bars of intro, so that Frank could get into position before the Actual Start of the track.
We filmed around 12 takes of the video, and the sound you hear is from ONE TAKE alone, but the video shots are from different takes.
